Thank goodness for friends and family. Camping in the Bay Area would have been difficult (and expensive!) without them. We stayed in Santa Cruz a few nights, hit the carousel at the Boardwalk and Obi swam in the ocean again. Knox has been walking for a solid month with shoes that would not stay on more than five steps so we went to my family’s shoe store in Palo Alto, called Howard’s Shoes for Children. Problem solved.
After, we hit Los Gatos, a lovely little town with a super cool playground complete with a trainer fighter jet which Knox loved and dear friends who let us camp in their driveway. If it weren’t for our friends, Obi would have been accidentally left outside an ice cream shop. (Don’t worry, we only walked a block before anyone noticed.)
In San Francisco, Sean drove down Lombard Street, which left me to take the photos at the bottom of the hill while praying as hard as I could that the brakes would not give or some other crazy misfortune would become of the bus. Sean later told me his palms have never been so sweaty.
